Mrs Thomas teaches our Year 3 class. All of our classes are named after trees, the Year 3 class is called 'Apple'.
The class is supported by a teaching assistant and we are also very lucky to have the support of student teachers from local universities in our school.
Year 3 have Forest School on a rota basis, for three half-terms across the year.
Please contact the school office if you are interested in a place in Year 3, we would be delighted to show you around.
Well done to all of you who are still working hard at home Apple Class. I know it's very strange not being at school and sometimes it's hard to keep going with your learning but just try and do a little bit at a time.
There is still a Maths activity that I'd like as many of you to try. There are some Year 3 questions for you to try and 'show me what you know'. It will be really helpful for Mr Grant who will be teaching you in Year 4 to see which questions you feel confident on and which you find tricky. You have 1 week left to do it so take your time, you don't have to do it all in one go either!
I have also added a set of topic lessons based on the Olympics which you can use alongside the MAT home learning. I'd love to see what you do on ClassDojo.
Miss Parker
If you want to talk to a teacher on the Home Learning Team about the work or have any questions we have set up a Facebook page (Rivers Home Learning) which you can message and is monitored each day from 9am-3pm. If you do not use Facebook, you can email rainbow@riverscofe.co.uk and they will respond as soon as possible.
You can find links to resources and activities on the Rivers CofE Academy website:
I am so impressed with how hard you have been working at home Apple Class. You have made me very proud. Home learning is important but so is having a rest and enjoying other things like playing outside and having fun so this week, as it is half term, there is only one activity to try. It's the same for each class so if you have brothers and sisters you could work on it together. It is also a MAT activity so lots of other children will be giving it a go- there are even certificates and badges for those of you who take part.
I can't wait to see your rainbow
Have a lovely week everyone. Stay safe. Miss Parker.
Thank you to one of our Year 6 children who shared this great time capsule activity. What a great way to spend some of your time at home creating this over the Easter break. Why don't you have a try!

A quick note to Apple Class:
I hope you are all staying safe, keeping busy and not making too much mischief at home!
All of the teachers are working hard to make sure there are plenty of activities on the website for you to try. Don't forget to have a look at the other class pages too- there are great things to magpie. If you can, take a photo of some of the things you do at home and post them on twitter- it's great to see what you are all up to. Keep reading, keep smiling, keep washing those hands and keep safe.
Miss Parker

Apple Class 2019-2020
What a great start to our new term. All of Year 3 have returned after the Christmas break with incredible attitudes and have been superstars in all of our lessons. We are already loving our new topic, 'The Stone Age' and are excited about finding out more!
STAR PERFORMERS!
Wow, Wow, Wow! What an amazing class assembly Apple Class performed this morning. They transported everyone to the Amazon rainforest, bringing it to life through their story telling as well as reading poems and facts about this beautiful part of the world. The finale song was incredible and each member of the class should be proud of their efforts. I know all the audience thought it was brilliant! Thank you to all of the people at home who helped with costumes and came to support us.
Apple Class are thoroughly enjoying our new topic: 'Amazing Amazon'.
We have already been busy learning about the layers of the rainforest, the unique animal and plant life that calls the Amazon home and fact finding using reference books and the Internet.
Watch this space for more about our topic!
Apple Class loved learning about The Stone Age during the start of the Spring term. We used the text 'Stone Age Boy' by Satoshi Kitamura and wrote some fantastic descriptions of the historical setting which are on display in the corridor.
We concluded our Stone Age learning with a brilliant visit...see our photo section for more!
