On Thursday 24th May, the whole school visited Cleobury Mortimer to watch the Olympic Torch being carried through the town. With great excitement three coaches of children departed Great Witley CE Primary School at 12:30pm. All of the children were wearing their bright yellow '2012 Olympic' T-shirts. This looked splendid as the children paraded down to their High Street position amongst a crowd of other participating schools.
The children were entertained by two street performers and a convoy of vehicles including police cars and motorbikes. They were handed balloons and 'freebies' by Lloyds bank. This all helped to build the excitement so that they were ready to clap and cheer when the torch bearer jogged by us, right on time at 2:47pm.
Our return coaches were soon on hand to pick everyone up. What a day, Great Witley CE Primary School is still buzzing, thank you Cleobury Mortimer and the Olympic Torch Crew - we had a brilliant time!
