Apple have been studying the Stone Age this term. As part of their topic they visited Bishops Wood last week. They imagined travelling back in time to the Mesolithic era. They had to build a barrow from a mammoth skin, three poles and a few pieces of twine, which they used to carry their tools and babies as they moved to a new site. Once there they had to dismantle their barrow to use the same equipment to build a shelter. They went hunting in the woods, but unfortunately they didn't catch anything.
In the afternoon they built willow hurdles, foraged for nuts and berries, as well as practicing their spear throwing and fire-lighting skills!
